Well, let’s get the formalities out of the way first… If you are seriously injured, please seek medical advice from a medical professional such as a medical doctor or call 911 if it is an emergency!
Ok, now that we got that out of the way, let’s talk about some other less serious injuries that are a real pain in the…(fill in body part here). Most of us have been there at one point in time. Have you woke up with a stiff neck? Tweaked and ankle rounding first base? Jacked up your shoulder because you inadvertently did a front flip over your mountain bike’s handlebars? Well, I have! You end up walking around like you are on a swivel, limping like you are doing the zombie walk and are all of a sudden strictly left handed… like I said, been there done that! For me, I know it didn’t require the formalities that we started with here (911 or a trip to the ER), but I knew that something wasn’t right and that I should maybe look into what I could do to set my body on the road to recovery. Luckily, I work with some pretty cool people called Physical Therapists. Yep, they drug me into the clinic, sat me on one of their nifty treatment tables and started doing their thing. Before I knew it, I was going through one of their injury consultations, which in all three cases landed me in the clinic as a patient. I had been in for several other injuries too, but a little R&R did the trick there.
You may be wondering, what exactly is a Injury Consultation at MVP Physical Therapy? Well, it pretty much is just as the name implies. MVP Physical Therapy offers a FREE injury consultation if you are hurt and are not sure what the next step might be. Consultations are a chance for you to be seen by one of our Physical Therapist, give a history of what happened, allow the therapist to go through a quick assessment of your injury and help you decide what the next steps might be. In some cases, it might just be some sound advice on how to rest up over the next couple days with a few other tips and exercises. In other cases, there might be reason for concern and we can help you get the wheels in motion. This might include a good doctor who specializes in your particular injury, what the rehab process entails and how long it will take for you to get back to being you. At any rate, this free little consultation can really yield some good information and it is done with some great people who sincerely care about your health and well being.
If you do start a physical therapy regimen after the consultation, your physical therapist begin with a complete evaluation. Think of the consultation as the Cliff Notes and the evaluation as the entire novel. They will break everything down, design an individualized treatment program and see you through to the end… or if you are like me, until the next bonehead injury from trying to defy gravity. At least you get a free 6-month gym pass after the completion of every physical therapy regimen. If I didn’t already work here, I would have a free gym pass for life!
If you would like to set up a free injury consultation, give MVP a call and one of our all-star office staff will be more than happy to set up a convenient time that works for you to see one of our Physical Therapists. You can also come by our unique facility as well and we will be happy to show you around and answer any questions you might have.
